I struggle to achieve a let down and i think it is down to two things.
1 being I have had surgery (implants) and have some nerve damage. 2 stress and limiting beliefs.
I am under huge amounts of stress personally and then my baby wasn’t gaining weight although breastfeeding felt as though it was going good to begin with. This of course added to the stress and we are now 8 weeks down the track and lucky if she gets a few ml from me. We have been supplementing feeds since two weeks too which she has obviously gotten used to the bottle and it’s faster flow too.
I have tried everything I can think of so far.
Milk maker by two islands, pumping (nothing happens), blessed thistle, milk flow spray, aromatherapy, acupuncture and domperidone. I am just wondering if you have any other ideas? Will try the tigers milk but had basically been eating that with Oats in the mornings to begin with.

Comment on Help! My baby won’t sleep. by Holly Struckman https://babycoach.co.nz/resettling-baby/#comment-67 Thu, 11 Mar 2021 08:16:47 +0000 http://www.babycoach.co.nz/?p=253#comment-67 Hi there
My baby is 11 weeks old. We need help in a couple of respects; firstly he has always slept on his stomach and I would like to get him to sleep on his back. Secondly we need help with routine – he only catnaps during the day (not in his cot) and he’s also regularly waking during the night. Just the typical baby sleeping issues! We would really like to get into a sustainable routine as I am very worn out and have also suffered from PND.

Thanks so much for the reply. Yes he’s out of it now and we had a night of tears but he got the hang of it! Thanks again.

HI Janna, Thank you for your question.

Because your baby has been in the love to dream swaddle for quite sometime now it will be very foreign for him to know what to do wiht his arms when you remove it. In saying that I would remove it as soon as you can ad don’t look back. You may have already done this but the startle reflex always looks more challenging for the parents than it actually is for babies. Give him time to explore and find his hands and manage them in his own time. It won’t take long until he can confidently sleep and manage is motor skills once out of the swaddle.

Thanks Trish

His arms flail and he gets so upset. It’s obviously well overdue to get him out of it but we can’t get him to sleep! Any ideas on making the transition? Thank you .

Hi Morgan, yes I believe this is a perfect time to remove the swaddle, in particular if you are using the love to dream. Babies will suck theirs hands for comfort and for settling . Your baby may find it interesting to have their hands free but will soon love the ability to sooth independently. The one piece of advice I can give you though is make sure you trust your intuition. Babies who consistently suck on their fingers are commonly mistaken for being hungry which is not always the case. They will also make a lot of sucking noises at night and will not be hungry just transitioning from one sleep cycle to the next. I hope this has given you some piece of mind. Regards Trish
